CH. RED ROOF RAILLERY

RED ROOF is the identifying kennel prefix of Commander George H. Earle III, former Governor of Pennsylvania, and American Minister to Austria and Bulgaria.  His interest in the Standard Manchester Terrier goes back very many years.  He was President of the Manchester Terrier Club of America when the club was elected to membership in the American Kennel Club, December 18, 1923.  He was also a founder member of the American Toy Manchester Terrier Club that was elected to membership in the A.K.C., June 14, 1938.

 

CH. RED ROOF RAILLERY, whelped February 1, 1960, is a homebred sired by Red Roof Ravelin, out of Red Roof Redwing.  Commander Earle started him as a puppy at Penn Ridge Kennel Club in August of 1960.  RAILLERY was never campaigned extensively, but rather shown on and off, mostly adjacent to his owner's home.  He has, however, rolled up 29 Bests of Variety wins and 4 Group placements.  His Breed Club Specialty Best of Variety wins include the Chicago International, 1960; Westchester, 1960 and 1961; and Philadelphia, 1963.  At Westchester, 1963 Breed Club sponsored event, he was also Best of Variety.  Two seconds, 1 third, and 1 fourth account for his four Group placements.  Unquestionably, had this male been shown consistently, he might have gone much further.  He is a typical Manchester with good all-over balance, correct coat texture, rich tan, well defined and proper markings.  He moves freely as a terrier should.  A long, lean skull, small black eye, with alert and quizzical expression, and a short, well set-on tail are of his make-up.  RAILLERY has been handled by Eland Hadfield, a past master in terrier presentation.

This male has not been extensively used.  Many typical breed specimens are among his progeny, these unfortunately not shown by their owners.
